If you come on holidays to Hostal San Juan, spending some time touring Alicante city is a worthwhile option to sunbathing on the beach. Our beach hostel is located just 7 km away from the center of the old city of Alicante, and there are good connections around the main building of Hostal San Juan which would get you just to the heart of the city in about 20 minutes.

Alicante is the main city of Costablanca, Southern Spain, and a quiet city on the Mediterranean Sea, having many Roman signals all around today. If you come to go sightseeing in Alicante, you will learn about its culture by taking a look to its various historical and iconic buildings, many of them worth visiting such as the Santa Barbara Castle, the Concathedral of St. Nicholas or Carbonell House as well as museums and cultural centers.

Alicante is also popular for its promenade along the marina and port, called La Explanada de España (Esplanade of Spain) with its thousands of red, black and cream mosaic tiles, and tall palm trees. A walk through the old town of Alicante will make you feel the pulse of the history of this coastal town: the Town Hall Square , the Barrio de Santa Cruz , the Convent of the Nuns of the Blood (el Convento de las Monjas de la Sangre). Of course by touring the city one can enjoy Mediterranean cuisine, tapas bars , paella dishes, ice-creams.

Alicante is also a good place to go shopping, if you like to have a souvenier from Spain. There are several shopping routes in Alicante, from visiting highstreet shops as in Maisonnave Avenue, visiting one of its modern shopping malls or why not? Poping into el Mercado Central to buy Mediterranean gastronomy as fruits, vegetables, fresh fish… and souvernirs as well.

Our personnel at Hostal San Juan would be delighted to advice on what to see in Alicante, museums opening times or where the official tourist information Alicante office is. Kindly ask at the reception desk for tourist information about Alicante, El Campello, the beach or Muchavista SanJuan.
